…being somewhere in the south located at the sea, such as in France or Italy maybe. The so called “Riviera” along the Lake of Geneva reminds me so much of Cannes or Nice, for example. However, we are still in Switzerland, in the French part to be precise. 

And it’s a lot of holiday feeling when being there. Though, it was not my first time when I travelled there two weeks ago. I used to come here either for their electronic music festival or the world famous Montreux Jazz Festival, where all the stars of that genre meet and give concerts to the jazz music lovers.

Montreux not only has a worldwide recognition due to that music festival. Moreover, the famous rock band “Queen” decided to buy the “Mountain Studio” in the Casino of Montreux and produced their music there from 1978 to 1995. The legend Freddie Mercury and his band have chosen this place to be off the stream and all the hype, because in that little city at the Lake of Geneva they could almost live uninterrupted.

As you can see Montreux is a lot connected with music and their legends. But you can also discover the historic old town, stroll along the promenade, swim in the beautiful lake and visit museums. One you shouldn’t miss, is one of my favorite castles when I was a kid: Le Chateau de Chillon. It’s such a big and impressive castle in the Lake of Geneva. When I was younger, I always dreamt of residing there as the king. So it was kind of coming back home to my childhood dreams when we visited it and it was still interesting to learn more about the history of this castle.
