Davos – a lively city in a winter wonderland…

A little homage to one of the most famous places in the Swiss mountains – Davos. It’s not only the highest town in Europe (1’560m above sea level) but also the host to the World Economic Forum (WEF), an annual important meeting of global political and business elites. Moreover, it has one of Switzerland’s biggest ski resort and serves as the site of the annual ice hockey tournament “Spengler Cup”.

But to me, it has also a different meaning as going back to my childhood. I’ve spent, next to Lenzerheide, where I’ve been few weeks ago, the most of my time for winter holidays in this beautiful city. Therefore, it’s always good to come back. As I did last weekend for a short getaway.

It was sort of coming home. Walking through the streets in Davos, passing by familiar places such as the lake of Davos, the ice hockey arena, the sports center, valley stations, my favorite cafés or restaurants. Davos has so many things to offer, almost like a big city. You can go for a relaxing walk around the lake, go shopping in the main street, have a coffee or hot chocolate in a café, practice all kinds of sports, go partying or to the casino or just enjoy a Spa day in one of the numerous hotels. It never gets boring up there, because it’s always something going on, especially in the winter season.

Being back there, and also having the chance to stay in one of the hotels I used to stay was just amazing. Besides being in the nature covered by snow, I really loved relaxing in the wonderful Spa and enjoying delicious food at the Sunstar Alpine Hotel. I even enjoyed just to have a cup of tea in front of a fire place in the hotel lobby.

Although it was only for a short time, I could totally recharge my batteries in this beautiful snowy surrounding to be ready for the last stressful days before Christmas.

Hotel: Sunstar Alpine Hotel, Davos
