Brighten up the day...

Outfit: Scotch&Soda

Being back in Zurich feels good because I have time to visit my family and friends if only for a short time. But this quality time is so important to relax and get ready for new challenges and projects. However, the weather here these days is quite frustrating. Down in the city you barely can see the sun throughout the day. It is always hidden by a strong fog. This gives me the reason to talk about color trends for the coming spring/summer to brighten up the day.

Color trends in menswear have changed from the rather dark colors to the more bright and rich ones over the last few seasons. Typical dark shades with a slight blue and green influence are still on top. However recently returned from men’s fashion week in Milan (Spring/Summer 2017, SS2017) I noticed a presence of the typical bold shades of red, orange and yellow. Good news during this cold and grey winter time at the moment. Because these warm colors are associated with hot and sunny summer days of which we could dream of, at least for now.

I’m picking yellow out of these three trend colors for SS2017 and predict to get the most worn color this season. The reason is simple. In my opinion, yellow might be the brightest color among these three but the easiest one to combine within the men’s wardrobe. And to be honest: to wear red or orange shades you really need to be the type for. So yellow is a typical spring/summer color and has a range from lemon to fluorescent shades. For the next season it takes on a slightly more green influence as an alternative to the bold and saturated version from before.

Therefore if you want to get into summer mood despite the grey weather just go for a shopping trip and get inspired by the colorful new fashion trends for the coming warmer season. And don’t forget in spring/summer you’re allowed to be braver within the combinations of colors and patterns.
