…and everything is covered in white the day after. What a beautiful scenery – this is what happens in my home country Switzerland right now while I am enjoying the sunny but still cold Milan these days.
Il dolce far niente. This is what I usually connect with spending time in Italy. A wonderful countryside, great food, easy-going and open-minded people. The list how to describe this country is long. In my case, it’s not about holiday this time but quite the contrary. We all know the feeling of looking for a new adventure. Routine and kind of a guarantee are great and priceless, but we’re all arriving at a point where we feel like making a further step into the chosen direction.
Right at the moment, you can see many quotes and New Year’s resolutions wherever you may look at. People are talking about their personal resolutions – even about the same or similar ones every year. But why?
This time, when the year is coming to an end, it’s like watching a beautiful sunset. Seeing how the sun is slightly going down and disappearing behind the hills and a beautiful year is coming to an end. And then the day after a hopefully even much more beautiful one will arise.
It feels like the day has got 20 dark hours at the moment. It’s quite dark and foggy until 8am and again around 4.30pm already. But thanks to the sun, which is giving us some light and sunrays during the daytime, the days are really beautiful during the last time.
I definitely prefer the lovely summer months over the cold and dull winter season. Not because I don’t like the scenery or the colors only because I prefer warm temperatures. When you ask me about the feeling, the smell and the colors from November to February, the answer is almost as positive as the one for the summer months. It is just... different.
As the old saying goes: Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadow. Why? Well, that’s easy, isn’t it? If you face the sun, the shadow lies behind you and not next or even in front of you. And I totally agree with that. But it’s normal to see the shadow from time to time. And it’s not a bad thing at all. I think we sometimes even need to see the shadow to grow. And otherwise we take all the good things we’ve got and receive for granted.
Dandy fashion is not a new trend. Not at all. It’s a fashion trend, which is already lasting for many many years, even centuries. And it hasn’t changed that much. It seems as if todays modern gentlemen (I’ve talked about the definition already in a previous post) are aware of the „old“ elements of dandy fashion and reuse it today again. There are different kinds of the dandy fashion. The start of „dandyism“ was more over-the-top, which means a lot of jewelry, velvet and even wigs.
Colors are everywhere. Always. The trees are loosing their leaves, which have been changing their colors during the last weeks. All the different shops are getting decorated and prepared for the pre-christmas sales – or they’ve been already. The christmas lightings are going to be switched on soon as well and will give some warm light into darkness. The whole atmosphere is changing. And it’s getting really cold.
I’m not having that many free days the past few weeks. I even forget to sleep the regular hours just because I’m active and productive in the evenings, even after a tough and long day on set or traveling. So when I’ve got a free day or some hours I just need to reload my energy. Sleeping a bit longer in the morning, going for a walk at the lake, doing some sports (not in the usual rush), watching some of my favorit TV soaps, cooking or just reading and listening to some relaxing music. Quite normal acitivies as many of you do, I guess.
